These were installed on the stock motor until the 1500 was ready to go in.
Left the jetting in there for a 1500, bolted them on and went for a test ride.
Incredible boost in midrange.. I eventually changed the jetting to match
the stock motor and it ran even stronger.
This was no cheap endeavor but a huge bang for the buck.. I found the 152 mains
to be too much for the 1500 so backed off to 145's
and dropped the Pilots back to 45's.

Syncing the Flatslides
My
first time checking sync on these carbs with the motion pro mercury sticks
revealed #1 carb way out.
Here's
the left bank. You can almost see the front carb (on right) where the slide is
closed more than the carb on the left.
Here's
the slide adjustment area.
Here
are the results after correcting #1 carb. No jet changes or fuel screw
adjustments made yet. This is just from correcting the slide.
1500 Long Rod Project
After riding a 200rwhp Vmax in March of 2003 I was hooked.. If you're ever offered a chance to ride a Vmax like that, don't do it! Your wallet will never forgive you. In October of 2003 I rode Rich Scharf's 1500 built by Gino of Evolution Engines in Oceanside NY. That pretty much sealed the deal. Purchased a second vmax motor then contacted Gino and discussed my options.
Decided to go with the same package as Rich's motor. I have no pics of this motor being assembled since Gino is in New York and I'm in Central Alabama. Below are some particulars:
Pauter Custom Billet Rods (http://www.pauter.com/)
JE Pistons (85mm)
Ferrea undercut stainless valves
Heads ported/polished/flowed by Gino
Cometic Head Gaskets (part no. H07055P8067S) 85mm
Cylinder Liners from Advanced Sleeves (part no. 3185FA) 85mm
Venture solid motor mounts.
Motor is in and broken in.. some pics of the swap below..

FZ1 Rear Caliper Project
The reason for this project is due to the extended PCW fuel tank. Upon
a very hard compression of the rear suspension the caliper brace mount can
contact the bottom of the fuel tank. Once I undersling the FZ1 caliper the
old bracket tab will be cutoff flush with the swingarm. The factory fuel
tank has an indention to allow for swingarm movement with no contact, the PCW
tank does not have this indention.
The
FZ1 uses a larger axle so a spacer much be machined and pressed in.
It now fits the Vmax axle but has much excess material showing above the
swingarm. I will have the machinist trim as much as possible.
Here is the prototype custom FZ1 hanger bracket.. Can you spot what's
wrong with it compared to the stock on the left?
Turns out the stock rear rotor is approximately 11" and the FZ1 rear rotor is
10.51" as shown in this overlay.
Which rotor would you rather have on your Vmax?
